Wevoka

Was a Paiute (American Indian) in Nevada who thought he was Jesus Christ returned to Earth to save his people.

He, like many other Christian leaders both past and present, used astronomical knowledge and trickery to convince others that he was Christ on Earth.  He used an eclipse to his favor to gain status.  He once said he would have ice appear so he has friends dump a wagon load of ice up river so it would float down to prove he could cause ice to appear.  Like most religious leaders he was a fraud.

He died on 04 Oct 1932 in Yerrington, NV.
