Suicide
Suicide is the taking of one's own life.
Considered by some to be a major sin. Considered normal by others. As with most things in life it seems to depend upon the beliefs of your chosen Religion.
For an interesting paper about Suicide see "Is Suicide a Sin" by Robert G. Ingersoll.
I, for one, see no logical reason to continue life once a person has reached a point where they can no longer function as a reasonable human being. Why would anyone ever want to become like a vegetable and then expect someone else to spent their life keeping one sort-of alive so that that person can continue to use up the resources of the Earth. There comes a point where your life, for all practicable purposes, is over, or should be over. I have no problem with people committing Suicide once they realize that they are beyond repair and have become a burden to others. Why continue to suffer and cause others to also suffer?
A huge part of the money spent on medical expenses is spend during the last few months of a person's life in a ridiculous attempt to keep them alive a bit longer even when they have no chance of getting better.
Our medical costs would be a lot lower if we simply allowed those who are suffering and have no chance of getting better to simply die instead of hitching them up to some machine that keeps them breathing. All this does is provides more taxpayer money to doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes.
We will all reach a point where life is not worth living. It is our duty, and the ultimate goal of live, to die and provide food for some other form of life.
