State of Grave Sin

This seems to be a term used by the Catholic Church to indicate a state of a person who has done something that has really ticked off the leaders of the Catholic Church

As I understand it a Catholic is in a State of Grave Sin if he or she joins any Masonic Organization.  This seems to be because the Catholic Church hates Freemasonry for some unknown and/or illogical reason.

I think the only thing that happens is that the person cannot take Communion. I also know that anyone who is not a Catholic cannot take Communion in a Catholic Church. I assume that the Church will probably still accept any financial offerings that person wants to make.  I seriously doubt that any money donated by a person who is in a State of Grave Sin is ever rejected by the Church.  Perhaps a person can even donate enough money to the church to be no longer considered as being in a State of Grave Sin sort of like a person can pay enough money to have a marriage declared annulled as if it never took place.

Not being a member of the Catholic Church I am not sure what 'crimes' one must commit to be placed in a State of Grave Sin.  I do not know if a Catholic can get into a State of Grave Sin by doing something other than joining the Masons.  Perhaps joining the Masons is the only 'crime' against the Church that rates high enough to be put into a State of Grave Sin.  Mass murderers like Hitler, who also hated the Masons, seem to be considered better and more worthy than anyone who is a Mason.  Great logic!

(It does not seem to indicate being in a location like say the State of Ohio.  I have not found this State on any map.)

If you are a Catholic and join the Freemasons you should probably forget to mention the fact to you priest.  The priest has no need or right to know what you do in your free time as long as you behave in a proper manner. Unless he is a Mason himself his security clearance is way too low for him to know anything about your membership in Freemasonry.  Do not tell your priest as it is none of his concern.

Perhaps being in a State of Grave Sin could be compared to that of not being in Good Masonic Standing.  Of course a person who is in Good Masonic Standing in a Lodge of Freemasons is automatically in a State of Grave Sin according to the Roman Catholic Church simply because that man must be a Mason to be in Good Masonic Standing.  Kind of a Catch-22.

Remember that almost all religions have their own weird idiosyncrasies and that they all seem to have a real love-affair with collecting money for their use.  Of course since God has no need for money the churches will use the cash to expand their religion and to let their leaders live a more luxurious life on Earth.  God will most likely never see most of the money collected in His name.
