Secretary Duties with respect to the Monthly Notice

The Secretary of the Lodge is responsible for creating the Monthly Notice, printing it and then mailing it to all Members of the Lodge.

To so do the Secretary of the Lodge must keep an accurate record of the addresses of the Members of the Lodge.

Many, if not most, Lodges send the Monthly Notice via Non-Profit Bulk Mail which is real cheap compared to regular First Class mail.

Careful spelling is very important especially for the name of Candidates for Membership.  The name of a Candidate must be exactly the same as the name the Candidate wrote on his Application for Initiation and Membership.

The Monthly Notice can be sent via Email if Email addresses are known.  Currently a large number of Masons are not what one would call Computer Literate.  Many grew up without the Computer and see no need to get a computer.  They are probably better off that way.  Only a small percentage of our members have a computer and not all of them know how to use it for communicating with others.

The Secretary also needs to keep the Bulk Mailing Permit up to date and he must keep enough money on account to make the mailings.
