The Sabbath is a term for a day of worship for Christians, and perhaps other Religions.
At one time the Christian Sabbath seems to have been on Saturday but was changed to Sunday, or the day of the Sun or Sun God. This change was probably because modern Christianity may have developed from Sun Worship.
The Christian word 'Sabbath' is quite similar to the 'Sabbat' of Witchcraft, both seeming to mean 'to rest'. Most Christians will probably deny this idea.
This seems to have something to do with the Christian idea that according to the Holy Bible God rested on the Seventh day. Why an all-knowing and all-powerful Supreme Being would need a rest is a unknown. Since God did not create the Sun and the Moon until the Fourth Day how did God determine that a day had passed since a day as we understand it has to do with the Rotation of the Earth with respect to the Sun.
