Religion and Science 

Many Religions, at least the Revealed Religions, have had very little use for Science unless that Science  was able to create a more efficient method for murdering those who did not totally agree with the Religion that was in power at the time.

Religions seem to fear anything that may 'prove', or even suggest, that any one of their religious beliefs might be incorrect, or that a Religious belief may simply be an often repeated falsehood that they preach to advance their agenda.  The idea that the Earth revolves around the Sun was real unpopular with the leader of the Catholic Church and those teaching this blasphemous idea were often imprisoned, tortured or killed, sometimes by being Burned at the Stake.  It is suspected that the leaders of the Catholic Church knew that the Earth was round and revolved around the Sun in the Solar System but wanted to keep this scientific fact from the common folk so that the teachings of the Catholic Church would not be compromised.  Since the Catholic Church had for so long claimed that the Earth was the Center of the Universe, it would not do them any good to let the people know that they were wrong, thus they murdered, or imprisoned, those who spoke out against their teaching that the Earth was flat and that the Sun revolved around the Earth.  See Galileo. 

The Revealed Religions especially are not very tolerant of any idea that even slightly conflicts with their theories.  Even today some of these Religions may kill you for having a diverging outlook on something.  Some things never change. The idea seems to be, "You will believe in God as I believe in God or you need to be eliminated in some unpleasant manner." 

The acceptance and encouragement of the Sciences by Freemasonry has lead to some Religions, especially the Roman Catholic Church, wanting to eliminate the Freemasons.  The Freemasons were teaching their members that the Sun Revolved around a spherical Earth when the Catholic Church still denied that scientific fact which led to a lot of the Secrecy practiced by Freemasonry.  Many Churches do not like Freethinkers who wish to expand their Knowledge especially if the Knowledge  happens to disagree with the teachings of the offended Religion.  Religions seem to like murdering those who do not agree with them, which they justify by claming that the murders are done to help God or at least in the name of God, even though they consider God to be the all-powerful entity who, being all-powerful, really needs no help from anyone.  Religion may be the best form of population control that has ever existed.
