Reason and Religion

Reason and Religion probably should be never used in the same paragraph as most Religions seem to require a total lack of reason on the part of the believer.
Religions, especially Revealed Religions and/or Expansionist Religions, seem to require 'faith' and 'superstition' on the part of the 'believer' instead of 'truth' and/or 'reason' and/or 'proof'. Religions do not usually encourage Freethinking.
Revealed Religions, such as Christianity and Islam, certainly do not encourage anyone to desire any 'proof' as to the validity of the teachings of the Church. This is because there is no proof that the founders of these Revealed Religions ever had any special Knowledge revealed to them by God at any time. Anything that has been Revealed to someone by God should be considered as hearsay evidence at best.
If 'proof' of a Church's teachings were required most if not all Religions would soon be out of business because no proof exists for most religious beliefs. This would cause a serious decrease in the amount of money donated to a Religion which would mean that the leaders of that Religion would no be able to spend the money for their enjoyment, all of which they say is done in the name of their God.
At least in the past some Religions have been against any Scientific Advancements except those that enabled that Church to more efficiently kill off those who did not 'believe' the same as the Church Leaders. Religions have3 never been very fond of those who do not totally agree with their party line.
Both Christianity and Islam have in the past, in addition to killing millions who did not agree with them, caused a great Destruction of Knowledge in their never ending quest to eliminate any information that does not totally agree with their religion. This seems to be done in an attempt to increase that Religion's power and influence and to increase the amount of money that that religion can collect from its followers. Religions operate on money, just like any other for profit organization. Without money these Religions will go out of business.
