Pope Pius IX
He was Pope from 1846 until 1878.
Pope Pius IX issued Papal Bulls against Freemasonry in 1846, 1865, 1869 and in 1873.
What is interesting here is that before he became Pope he had been a Master Mason. He was expelled from Freemasonry after he became Pope. It is said that he was tried for repeated violations of his obligations to his Masonic Brethren. He expulsion was signed by Victor Emanuel, King of Italy. Notice of his expulsion was sent all over the world to the various Masonic Lodges. See "The Story of Freemasonry" page 23-24.
