The plural of Planet is Planets.
A planet is one of the major heavenly bodies that rotate in an orbit around a star. They are potential locations for life to exist. We have no accepted proof that life exists on any other Planet but Earth, but life could easily exist somewhere in the Universe. If life is discovered on other Planets it may require a great change of thought in some of the major Religions of the world.
At one time both the Sun and the Moon were considered to be Planets. This was back during the time that the Catholic Church stupidly insisted that the Earth was the center of the Universe. People like Galileo taught that the Earth was not the center of the Universe, but he was soon arrested and jailed by the Catholic Church for his belief. Freemasonry at that time also taught that the Earth was not the center of the Universe and that the Earth revolved around the Sun. This led to at least some of the secrecy practiced by Freemasons since the Freemasons had no desire to become 'crispy critters' so that some perverted Christian priest could get his rocks off by watching a 'blasphemer' die a slow painful death. The Catholic Church finally seems to have admitted that Galileo was not wrong sometime near the end of the 20th century after the birth of Jesus Christ. I am not sure why it took them so long to decide that the Earth was not the center of the universe unless they did not wish to admit that they (or an ancient Pope) were wrong about something. At least Galileo was not Burned at the Stake like many others were when they did not agree with the Catholic Church. With Galileo the Catholic Church simply imprisoned him for life. Recently the Catholic Church has become a lot more interested in Science and seems to have become an asset to Scientific Discovery instead of a liability to the same. Many of the Catholic Universities rank up near the top of all academic institutions, and the Catholic Schools have done a great job of preparing students for a good life. Current members of the Catholic Church should not be held accountable for the awful acts committed by their previous leaders. Currently the Catholic Church does a lot of good things to help people in need, just like the Freemasons have done for a long time.
The number of Planets has changed over time. See List of Planets for more information.
