Pithole, Pennsylvania

Now a ghost town in Western Pennsylvania not far from Titusville.

Founded in 1865 and died in 1877.

The origin of the name is unknown but many theories exist.  One of them might even be correct.

The author of this website has visited Pithole, where there is a museum and a few remains of the old city.  The Museum was worth visiting.
