Piracy
Piracy has been defined as any kind of criminal act on the sea or from the sea. Those who engage in Piracy are often thought of as pirates. (See "The Templar Pirates" page 6)
Piracy probably started at the time the second boat was launched, or at least shortly thereafter.
Piracy around the Mediterranean Sea was first recorded on a clay tablet found on Pharos which mentions the Berber pirates. (See "The Templar Pirates" page 8)
Piracy is known to have existed for at least 4000 years, at least in the areas around India and China.
Organized Piracy in Europe seems to have begun during the 6th century BC on the island of Samos, under the leadership of Polycrates and his two brothers. (See "The Templar Pirates" page 9)
Piracy is still alive and well at least in Somolia as of 2009.
