Phoenicians

The Phoenicians are said to have traveled to England in ancient times where they traded with the English for tin or mined it themselves. (See "The History of Freemasonry" by Mackey page 213)

Some say that during these voyages the Phoenicians imparted some of their religious beliefs on the residents of England.  This is not very likely.
