North
North is one of the Four Cardinal Directions. It is represented on a compass as being either zero degrees or 360 degrees.
North is considered to be the direction of darkness. This is because, at least in the Northern Hemisphere at latitudes greater than 23.5 degrees, the Sun is never in the North.
No Blue Lodge Masonic Officer has his Station in the North. In many Lodges the Brethren who are not Officers of the Lodge often sit on the North, or South, side of a Lodge.
North is currently in the direction of the Star Polaris. The Pole Star changes with time, but slowly.
In most of the Northern Hemisphere the Sun never shines on the North side of a building, hill or tree, thus being the direction of darkness.
In Freemasonry there is no Lodge Officer who has a Station in the North.
In reference to the American Civil War the North is considered to be the states that fought for the United States of America against the Confederate States of America.
North is the region or cardinal point in the plane of the meridian to the left of a person who is facing the direction that the Sun appears to rise.
