National Intelligence Authority (NIA)

Established by a directive from POTUS Harry S. Truman on 22 January 1946.

It was to oversee the CIG, or Central Intelligence Group.  The NIA was made up of the secretaries of state, war, and navy, plus a representative of the POTUS.  Under the NIA was the DCI, or Director of Central Intelligence.  The first DCI was Sidney W. Souers.

The second DCI was General Hoyt S. Vandenberg.
