Lucifer

Lucifer is the name of the Planet Venus when Venus is the Morning Star that seems to rise shortly before the Sun.  Thus Lucifer is considered the bringer of light, or the light bearer, as Lucifer appears to rise in the East to show that the Sun will soon rise. When the Planet Venus sets in the evening after the Sun it is known as Vesper

Somewhere in the History of Christianity some priest must have decided to give the name Lucifer to the entity referred to as Satan or the Devil.  I have no idea why Christianity demonized one of God's  Planets that sometimes rises in the morning before the SunChristianity, or the priest, must have gained some political, religious or financial gain by so doing.  Probably financial.

Something seems wrong here with the genders as Lucifer seems to be considered male and Venus seems to be usually  considered as female.  Perhaps the Planet is a hermaphrodite.  Seems odd for the second Planet from the Sun to periodically change its sex.

Lucifer is said to have mated with with his sister Diana to produce a daughter named Aradia. (Another potential gender problem here not to mention incest)

Lucifer is said by some to be the God worshiped by the FreemasonsFreemasons do seek "Light" (Knowledge) and Lucifer was considered to be the Bringer of Light. However, Freemasonry does not favor any one name for God over another, since Freemasonry is not a Religion.  Each man is encouraged to worship as he sees fit to so do.

Lucifer is said to have been the brother of Diana and to have been the god of the Sun and Moon, and the god of Light and Splendor.  When Lucifer rose in the sky in the early morning the Sun soon followed on to open and rule the day and then the Moon continued on to govern the night until Lucifer again rose as the Morning Star.
