Light

In Freemasonry Light means Knowledge or truth or the search for the same.  The opposite of Light is Darkness or Ignorance. See MPD_0027 for more information. 

Lucifer is said by some to have been the God of Light, so perhaps this is where many of the critics of Freemasonry have gotten the idea that the Freemasons worship Lucifer. Lucifer has been called the Light Bringer or the Bringer of Light.  To the best of my Knowledge the Freemasons of my Lodge are not worshiping Lucifer.  Of course we do not ask our members what God they worship.  All Masons require is that a man belong in a Supreme Being by whatever name they choose to use for God. 

Of course those of us who have studied more than sports events, game shows and entertainers, know that Lucifer is simply the name used for the planet Venus when Venus rises as the Morning Star shortly before that Glorious Orb known to men on Earth as the Sun.  

The use of Lucifer as a name for Satan was instituted a long time ago by some priest who seems to have mistranslated a word from one language to another.  It could have been a mistake or done on purpose for some religious agenda.  Is it possible that a religious person, who gets paid for promoting his religion, would propagate a lie to further that Religion?  Would a Religion actually create falsehoods?  Shameful at best, if true!  How many times has a religious leader lied to the people?  The number of times may be approaching infinity.

Light is also the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can detect.

I have discovered that the older I get the more I desire light, since a lot of light makes it easier for me to read.

Apollo was the Greek God of Light.
