June 24
June 24 is the Feast Day of Holy Saint John the Baptist except when this day falls on a Sunday in which case the Feast Day will be the following day.
June 24 is considered an important day in Freemasonry.
June 24 is very close to the Summer Solstice, or the first day of Summer. In earlier times this day probably was the day of the Summer Solstice. At this time the Sun appears to rise somewhat in the northeast.
Why did the Christians pick a major Feast Day so close to the Summer Solstice? Could it be that the early Christians were really worshipers of the Sun instead of worshipers of the Son of God (Sun God?), or were they just hoping to combine their Feast Day with the important dates used by the so-called Pagans so that the rather new cult of Christianity would be more acceptable to more people?
