Is Freemasonry a Religion?

Freemasonry is not a Religion.  As far as we know it never was a Religion and never will be a Religion.

Freemasonry, unlike Religions, has no religious dogma to follow.

Freemasonry has no one specific religious text that is to be followed.

Prayers to the Supreme Being are offered during meetings of the Lodge.  This does not make the Craft a Religion or a religious organization.  Even the United States Congress says prayers and no nobody should ever think of that group as being religious.

Freemasons are even forbidden to speak about Religion and/or politics during a Meeting of the Lodge.

Freemasons must express a belief in a Supreme Being who was the creator of the Universe.

Freemasons do not care what your Religion is as long as you believe in the Supreme Being.  Freemasons do not care what name you call the Supreme Being, or how you think of Him or Her.

Many people, especially those who hate the Freemasons for some reason, consider Freemasonry to be a Pagan religion.  When they say that Freemasonry is not Christian they are correct since Freemasonry does not favor any one Religion over another.  This should not be considered as being against Christianity unless you think being against Christianity means that anyone who does not attempt to force Christianity on others means that they are against Christianity.  Freemasons do not attempt to change any man's Religion - ever!  Freemasons do not care what name you choose for God.
