Idolatry  

The worship of some object or the representation of some object.  

Christians consider those who worship some object to be pagans, while they themselves seem to also worship an Idol by always facing a specific object like a cross mounted on a wall or altar.  

Muslims seem to worship a city by always facing a Mecca to worship.  Is this just a new type of Idolatry?  

At least Sun Worshipers freely admit that they worship the sun that they face while in prayer and thereby are not hypocrites.
