Hermes Trimegistus 

Also known as Thrice Great Hermes.

He is said to have been an Egyptian priest who was also the leader of a secret Religion that was followed by the intellectual elite of ancient Egypt.

Some consider him to be a fusion of the Greek god Hermes the messenger of the gods, and the Egyptian god Thoth the god of wisdom and magic.

He is said to have had knowledge about the entire universe which comprised three parts, Alchemy, astrology, and theurgy.

Hermeticism is based upon the teaching of Hermes Trimegistus.
