Gospel of Mary
Probably written by Mary Magdalene, or about her.
The Gospel of Mary was not accepted by the Catholic Church as being inspired by God probably because it did not totally agree with what the male dominated Church wanted. Therefore it was ignored and most likely all known copies of it were probably destroyed. A copy, at least an extra copy that was not hidden very deep by the Catholic Church, was not discovered until 1896. At this time in History the Catholic Church was Christianity.
The Gospel of Mary seems to indicate that there was Equality Between Men and Women and that either sex could be church leaders. (See "The Second Messiah" p 91) Even today, at least in the Catholic Church, Women are not permitted to be priests but is some Protestant sects a Women may be a preacher (priest).
Jesus Christ is said to have loved Mary Magdalene more that all the other disciples and used to kiss her often. This should not seem strange if Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene as though by many.
Peter, later made into Saint Peter, did not seem to like Mary Magdalene very much and is said to have asked Jesus Christ to silence her. Jesus Christ did not give Saint Peter what he wanted which would indicate that Jesus Christ was a much better person than the bigoted character who was created a Saint by the Catholic Church and became known as the first Pope.
Mary Magdalene is said to have told Jesus Christ that she was afraid of Peter because he hates the female race. To this date Popes still do not consider Women to be worthy of becoming Priests.
