Global Warming

Throughout the history of the Earth the overall average temperature of the Earth has sometimes increased and sometimes decreased.

When the overall average temperature of the Earth increases it is called global warming, and when it decreases it gets cooler and is sometimes called global cooling.

During long periods of global warming the glaciers shrink in size and number, and during long times of global cooling the glaciers increase in size and number.

The Earth now seems to be at a warmer part of this cycle and this has caused some people to blame the global warming on the activities of mankind.  They say it is caused by mankind burning a lot of fossil fuels and placing more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.  It is a hot political issue that is supported mostly by liberal Americans who want to blame the Americans for everything that they can think of that they do not like.
