From Darkness to Light 

Throughout history many organizations and Religions have brought their candidates From Darkness to Light.

Candidates for Freemasonry are brought out of Darkness into Light in the Entered Apprentice Degree.

Candidates for Druidism were brought From Darkness to Light in the the First Degree of Druidism that was called Vates. 

It is said by some that this is a representation of overcoming the Darkness of death by being dug up from the grave and being reborn.

It is said by some to represent Noah coming out of the Darkness of the ark into the light of the the reborn Earth after it had been purified by water.

The lighting system on Noah's ark probably left quite a bit to be desired.  Perhaps he had enough animal scat to burn for light but the smell would not have been good but then again the smell could not have been very good to start out with with all those animals on board.

Osiris was brought out of darkness to light when his body was found by Isis.

Jesus Christ came out of the darkness of his grave to the light of the world when he was resurrected from the dead.
