Edinburgh, Scotland
The original name was Eden Burgh.
Edinburgh granted a Seal of Cause to various groups of workers from 1456 thru 1510, which included the Masons in 1475. This action also granted the Scottish Freemasons the use of the Aisle of Saint John the Evangelist in Saint Giles' Cathedral.
The term 'burgh' usually referred to a walled town. It is said that the
original walls of Eden Burgh still exist as ruins.
