Did the Sun Ever Stand Still? 

I seem to recall that according to the Holy Bible the Sun once stood still for a period of 3 hours.

Probably not!  Since the Earth revolves around the Sun the only way that the Sun could have appeared to have stood still, at least if viewed from the Earth, is if the Earth suddenly stopped rotating on its axis.  The negative acceleration required would have probably destroyed all life and all structures on the Earth since at the equator the Earth must move at about 1000 miles per hour to go around once in a 24 hour period.

The laws of nature, probably created by God, do not permit such activity.

Assuming that God is considered all powerful and can do anything the possibility of the sun standing still my have happened if God violated all of his established rules of nature.  Not very likely.  Why would God ever want to stop the rotation of the Earth so that one group of people would be able to kill another group of people while it was still daylight?

Makes no sense to anyone who has a brain that is functional and not totally brainwashed.

This story is probably just another fantastic supernatural tale designed to enable someone to push an agenda of their chosen religion to benefit the leaders of that religion.
