Godfrey de Bouillon
He was the leader of the First Crusade who entered Jerusalem in 1099. (See "The Templar Pirates" page 26)
He was declared the first Christian King of Jerusalem. He refused to accept the title and considered himself as the Duke and Defender of the Holy Sepulcher (See "The History of Freemasonry" by Mackey page 219)
He was the head of the Royal House of Flanders. He also was a member of the Rex Deus. He was offered the crown of Jerusalem by chose to rule as the Protector of the Holy Sepulchre. He died childless and was succeeded by his brother Baudouin (Baldwin) who became King Baudouin I (King Baldwin I) of Jerusalem. (See "Templars in America" page 13)
