The Inquisition of the Catholic Church still seems to be alive and well! I thought it had ended a long time ago but it still seems to exist under a new name.
"Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith", since 1965, is said to be the latest name that the Catholic Church uses for the "Holy Office of the Inquisition" which is more often just called the Inquisition. (Holy seems like a real poor choice of words to use for such an awful group of people who tortured people and often had them Burned at the Stake so they would die a long slow painful death. I can think of nothing that could, by any stretch of the imagination, be considered 'Holy' about the Inquisition. Perhaps 'Holy' meant that the fire burned holes in the person being Burned at the Stake.)

In 1908 Saint Pope Pius X renamed the "Inquisition" as the "Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office". In 1965 it was renamed as the "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith".
I have no idea if this info is all correct. As far as I know they no longer punish Heretics by Burning at the Stake. I hope they have at least quit that specific activity. Perhaps it was fun while it lasted, at least for the Priest who lit the fire and then watched the Heretics burn for not following all the beliefs of the Catholic Church. Perhaps they cooked hot dogs and drank beer. It is no wonder that the Freemasons, with their scientific knowledge that was not approved by the Catholic Church, had Secrets as no sane person would ever want to be Burned at the Stake for their beliefs, especially when those beliefs were later proven correct!
The attitude of the Inquisition seemed to be that you must believe in the Catholic Church's name for the Supreme Being and follow their teachings or else you must die!!!!! Real nice Christian attitude for a Church to have had. Their tolerance level for heretics now seems to be a lot less violent since Burning at the Stake is probably considered a crime in at least most civilized countries.
We should daily thank the Supreme Being that America has no Official State Religion. Try to keep it that way.
