Computer 

At one time the people who did computations were called Computers.

The Abacus was a early form of mechanical Computer.

The Slide Rule was a later form of Computer.  Remember those devices.  I still use mine on a regular basis.

More recently the term Computer has come to mean an electronic device used for computations.
