Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus is the guy who got the credit, at least in most American history books, for the Discovery of America in 1492, even though he never set foot on the mainland. His voyage to the New World is now known to not have been the first trip to the Americas.  Christopher Columbus also seems to have had a map that showed him where to go.  Who did he get the map from?

It is somewhat commonly known that the Vikings were in America about 500 years earlier but they get no credit.  Of course the natives, now incorrectly known as the American Indians, that already lived in America get no credit for its discovery either.

Eighteen years before Christopher Columbus 'found' America he had an older map of America.   His fellow ship captain Martin Alonzo Pinzon also had viewed a map of America in the library of a Pope.  (See "1434"page xi.)

Christopher Columbus, we have been taught, was a Genoese mariner of humble origins who set out to prove the Earth was round.  However, it was widespread knowledge by the 15th century that the Earth was round except perhaps in Christian countries that were under the control of the Catholic Church where such knowledge may have been considered a crime against the Church and perhaps punishable by burning at the stake.  At least the knowledge that the Earth was not the center of the universe and that the Earth revolved around the Sun was then considered a crime against the Church, since it seemed to violate the Word of God in the Holy Bible.

It is said that Queen Isabella pawned her jewels to finance his adventure.  This is most likely a total falsehood. She provided him with some old ships perhaps hoping that he would simply vanish in the ocean and no longer pester her for money and ships.

It is also said that Christopher Columbus died poor and forgotten and never knew the greatness of his deeds.

Christopher Columbus may have already been to the New World before he set out on his voyage to discover a new route to India.  It is thought by some that he may have sailed to the New World with the exiled  Knights Templar at an earlier time, perhaps as a common sailor.

Christopher Columbus is said to have originally presented himself as Columbo, which in Italian is said to mean 'dove'.  He was anything but a peaceful man.

Perhaps Christopher Columbus should be considered a mass murderer and the first slaver in the New World instead of a hero.  He is said to have wanted to convert the Pagans of the New World to Christianity but mostly he wanted their gold and other resources for him and the King and Queen of Spain.  To help with their survival the people who lived in the New World should have killed him and his men instead of welcoming them.

One of his first acts was to capture about ten natives to take back to Spain as slaves.  Of course it was all done for God, which seemed to make it proper.  Wonder what God thought about that!
