Church
The plural of Church is Churches.
A Church can mean building or structure that is used for religious services, or it can mean a Religion.
A Religion is often called a Church. As an example the Religion of Christianity is often referred to as the Christian Church that holds it worship services in a Christian Church.
Thus a Church often meets in a Church just like a Lodge meets in a Lodge.
Terms like Cathedral, Chapel, Mosque, Tabernacle, Temple or House of Worship are often used to indicate the word Church when referring to the physical building that is used to hold a religious service instead of referring to the Religion that may own the building.
Religions have been known to spend vast quantities of money of beautiful Churches that enable them to attract more members and therefore more money. Money spent on elaborate churches does almost nothing to help the poor and needy. Enabling a priest to be able to wear bigger and more expensive jewels does not help the common man who could use some financial aid.
