Charges against the Knights Templar

King Philip the Fair of France and the Inquisition of the Catholic Church, under the leadership of Pope Clement V charged the Knights Templar with various charges including:

Heresy
Perjury
Sodomy
Satanism

The Knights Templar admitted to many of these charges under torture.  Some died while being tortured and never did confess.  Of those who confessed some were jailed for life, sold as slaves, or burned at the stake, like Jacques DeMolay.

The Catholic Church and various kings took possession of (Stole) as many assets of the Knights Templar that could be located.  Most of their treasure simply has vanished and its location is currently unknown to most of the world.  If anyone knows they are not talking.

(See "The Templar Pirates" page 39)

Kind of makes one wonder what kind of man the Catholic Church chose to be their leader!  Pope Clement V was certainly an example of a fine outstanding Christian! (However in his defense, at that time it probably was considered a good thing to kill people for your God.  Wonder how God looked at it.)
