Capricorn
Capricorn is one of the signs of the Zodiac. It starts on about 22 December and continues until about 19 January.
As the Sun enters Capricorn it is considered to be a New Sun, or Virgin Sun. The Sun of God, or perhaps the Son of God, is thus reborn each year as the Sun, or Son, enters Capricorn and causes more Light on Earth, at least in the Northern Hemisphere.
Capricorn represents the Sea Goat, or Goat.
The Sun enters Capricorn at the instant of the Winter Solstice, usually about December 22. On December 25 the Sun has risen enough that the days start to become noticeably longer, thus the Sun, like Jesus Christ, is said to be born, or perhaps reborn, on December 25. When the Sun is reborn each year it is said to be in its virgin state, thus Jesus Christ is said to have been born of a Virgin. (See MPD_0028 for more information)
Capricorn is a symbol of the scapegoat that was used to carry away the sins of the people in the wilderness. (Leviticus 16: 8-10)
