Athanasius  

He was from Alexandria and opposed Arius by claiming that Jesus Christ and God were one and the same.  A vote was taken at the Council of Nicaea, Athanasius won so Jesus Christ was elevated to the status of God.

What would have happened to Christianity if the vote had gone the other way?
