Some Lodges in Pennsylvania, and perhaps elsewhere, have both a Secretary and an Assistant Secretary. The Assistant Secretary is not an Elected Officer of the the Lodge but is appointed by the Worshipful Master. This is a position that all Lodges should consider. It never hurts to have more than one person who knows how to do the duties of the Secretary since none of us know when the sand in our Hour-glass will run out.
I, as the new Secretary of Wilmington Lodge No. 804, am lucky to have an Assistant Secretary to help me learn how to do my new Lodge Duties. Our Worshipful Master, James G. Williamson, Jr. appointed Jack C. Welsh, PM as the Assistant Secretary at the request of Jack C. Welsh, who is better known as Pete. He wanted to help me become familiar with the duties of being the Secretary of the Lodge. So far he has been a great teacher.
I am very grateful to Pete for his help. His help has made my job a lot easier than if I had had to learn it all on my own. He has also prevented me from making mistakes that could be detrimental to our Lodge.
The address of the Assistant Secretary of Wilmington Lodge No. 804 is:
Jack C. Welsh, PM
Assistant Secretary of Wilmington Lodge No. 804
345 Wood Street
New Wilmington, Pennsylvania 16142-1015
It will probably be years before people quit sending Communications for the Lodge to Pete, but he will see that I get them.
