Arrest of Jews in France in 1306
( Last modified on 23 Aug 2010 00:14 )

On 21 June 1306 all the Jews in France were arrested on orders from King Philip IV of France.  All their property was confiscated.  Their arrest eliminated a group of people that King Philip IV of France owed money to, so by arresting them, King Philip IV of France reduced his debt.  He still owed a lot of money to the Lombards and the Knights Templar.
