Are Freemasons Too Selective

Masons have been accused of only accepting the elite for membership.

As most people know for a man to be accepted as a Mason the ballot must be unanimous.  All members, of the particular Lodge, present at the meeting when voting on a petition, must vote in favor of the candidate.

This has changed in Pennsylvania as of 01 January 2010.  See New Balloting in Pennsylvania for more information.

Any member can vote against a candidate but is only to so do for a valid Masonic reason.
