Archaeology in America 

One of the rules about archaeology in America is wrong.

It assumes that anything found that dates before 1492 must be American Indian since officially the Americas were not found by the Europeans until the voyage of Columbus in 1492.  

It is pretty well known that Columbus was not the first European to visit the New World but the Columbus name seems to be sacred in the history textbooks of America.
