Apostolic Succession

This seems to be the term used by the Roman Catholic Church whereby the Pope is considered to be the direct inheritor of the authority to lead the Christian Religion on Earth.  It is said to have been passed down from Saint Peter who is said to have been the one who succeeded Jesus Christ as the leader of the Christian Church.  See "The Second Messiah" page 2. (Note: Jesus Christ was a Jew  and therefore most likely not a Christian.)

Many people do not consider Saint Peter as having been the second leader, but rather James the Just (the brother of Jesus Christ) or Mary Magdalene, or Joseph of Arimathea.  No proof of any of them being the second leader of Christianity is known for sure.  Actually there is no proof of Jesus Christ ever being the first leader and it is unlikely that Jesus Christ was ever the leader of the Christian Religion since Jesus Christ was a Jew.  There has been too much Destruction of Knowledge, too much Book Burning, and History has been rewritten by those in power too many times to ever be sure.  Religions have done a fantastic job of distorting and perverting History by destroying both the authors of books and the books themselves.

As with most other Expansionist Religions, the Roman Catholic Church considers itself to be the one and only 'true religion' on Earth.  All other Religions are considered by the Roman Catholic Church to be false, misguided, unauthorized, heathen or Pagan.  Most Religions seem to feel the same way about all other Religions so the Roman Catholic Church is not unique in its belief.

If you are not a member of the Roman Catholic Church you probably consider the Catholics to be wrong just as the Catholics consider you to be wrong by not following all of their beliefs.  At least most Christians no longer go about murdering other Christians.  Progress is slowly being made.  Perhaps someday there will be Freedom of Religion even though most Religions still only want Freedom of Religion for their respective Religion.

Try to remember that we all worship the same Supreme Being regardless of what we 'know' about the Great Architect of the Universe.  We do not need to continue killing each other over our concept of God.

Mary Magdalene is or was considered by many to have been the first legitimate Pope, or perhaps she would be called the Papess? It is thought by many, but not by Catholics, that there once was a Female Pope named Pope Joan
