Anti-Masonic Party Campaign Song
This is said to have been a campaign song used by the Anti-Masonic Party against the Freemasons. It is said to have been sung to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne."
"If aught on earth can man engage,
If aught can make us free,
'Tis one successful war to wage,
Against Free Masonry.
The Mason's dark design we know,
The Mason's bloody grip and sign;
We'll lend a hand to blot from the earth
The Mason's bloody shrine."
(See "The Story of Freemasonry" by Sibley page 48)
I gather from this that members of the Anti-Masonic Party were not real fond of the Freemasons at this time. At any rate the Anti-Masonic Party was eliminated and Freemasonry did not. God seems to be looking out for Freemasonry to help keep the ignorant from destroying the Craft.
I can think of no reason why God, or Jesus Christ, should be against Freemasonry. God probably finds Freemasonry to be a good organization because of its attempts to make the world a better and safer place by making good men better. Unless God takes pleasure in seeing his supporters killing each other over the way He is perceived by the leaders of the major religions.
