Aisle of Saint John the Evangelist
The Aisle of Saint John the Evangelist was the aisle in Saint Giles Cathedral that was given to the Masons in Edinburgh, Scotland, to use, when they were granted their Seal of Cause in 1475.
This is said to be why the Freemasons of Scotland consider Saint John the Evangelist to be their Patron Saint. The Freemasons of Pennsylvania start their Masonic Year on 27 December of each year, which is the Feast Day of Saint John the Evangelist, even though Pennsylvania Freemasonry is considered to be York Rite, not Scottish Rite.
The Aisle of Saint John the Evangelist is said to still exist but is now called Chepman Aisle.
