Advertising and Religions

Religions, like auto companies, beer brewers, and tobacco sellers, all advertise in an attempt to attempt to attract more people, and thus more money, to their cause.

Advertising can be one of two main kinds:

    1) Positive Advertising

    2) Negative Advertising

Religions, especially those that want to expand (expansionist religions)  try to encourage people to join their religion so that their market share will be greater than their heathen or pagan opponents.

I can see no real reason for a religion to wish to gain more members unless there is a financial incentive to so do which there clearly is.  Since the Holy Bible informs us that there is room for 144,000 people in Heaven why would anyone want to attract someone else to Heaven and perhaps eliminate a spot for yourself.  Why would you want to 'save'  someone who might take the last remaining seat in Heaven?

The only reason to risk such activity is for a reasonable financial gain for your religion on Earth.  Of course if a religion is willing to risk going to heaven for a few dollars that religion must not really think too highly of the benefits of heaven.  US dollars, with their pictures of dead presidents and other important people,  are real pretty and desirable but should they be as desirable as an eternity in Paradise?

Kind of makes one wonder about the real goal of religions.
