33rd Degree of Freemasonry

This is now the highest degree of Freemasonry.  It is part of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

It is an honorary degree and cannot be applied for.

As I understand it there were additional degrees in the past but they may have not been authorized and may not even have ever been given.  More study is needed on this topic.
