The P2 Lodge was founded in Italy in 1877 to serve Italian Freemasons who visited Rome.

Lucio Gelli gained control of this Lodge by 1966 and increased its membership from 14 to about 1000 members.

Mino Pecorelli, an Italian journalist, was also a member of the P2 Lodge.

It is said that the P2 Lodge was funded by the CIA.

It is also said the the P2 Lodge was connected to the "Carbonari" which is said to be a combination of Freemasons, the Mafia, and the Italian military.

It is said that George H. W. Bush was made an honorary member of the P2 Lodge.  I have no idea if this is true or not.  Even if true it means little as any organization can make anyone an honorary member if the vote upon it, even if the person has no desire to become a member of that organization.
