Junior Deacon 

The  Junior Deacon is an Appointed Officer in a Lodge of Masons.  He sits below and at the right hand of the Senior Warden.

The Junior Deacon assists during the conferring of Degrees.

The Junior Deacon carries messages from the Senior Warden in the West to the Junior Warden in the South so that the business of the Lodge may be conducted in secrecy and with dispatch.

In the ideal progression of Officers of a Lodge the Junior Deacon will advance to the Office of the Senior Deacon for the next Masonic Year.  This does not always happen for a variety of reasons.
