WORSHIPFUL MASTER      JEFFREY L. HEISS, P.M.

The “Worshipful Master” is the President of the Lodge and is responsible for... EVERYTHING! He sits in the EAST. The Worshipful Master’s station is always referred to as being in the EAST even if not geographically situated in that direction. It is sometimes referred to as the “Oriental Chair.”

We do not “worship” the lodge’s master. Worshipful is an old English term of respect - as in “your worship”.

SENIOR WARDEN                               TODD L. SNYDER

The Senior Warden is the Vice President of the Lodge. His station is in the WEST. The Senior Warden is responsible for preparation of the trestle board and training of the lodge officers. He takes the station of the Master in his absence.

JUNIOR WARDEN                                MARK E. GAINES

The Junior Warden is the Assistant Vice President of the Lodge. His station is in the SOUTH. The Junior Warden is responsible for preparation of candidates for initiation and advancement.

TREASURER                 THOMAS S. KENNERLY, JR. P.M.

The Treasurer is responsible for the financial and accounting functions of the lodge. At Lowther Manor Lodge the Treasurer is called upon to make a financial report after the Secretary has completed his business and pays lodge expenses approved by the membership.

SECRETARY                         MILTON S. GOUSE, JR. P.M.

The Secretary is responsible for the administrative functions of the lodge. His administrative duties include recording and reporting of meeting minutes, lodge communications, recording of transactions and other operational functions.

The three trustees are jointly responsible for the administration of the invested funds of the lodge. The funds which must be maintained and the specific duties of the trustees are enumerated in the Ahiman Rezon.

APPOINTED OFFICERS FOR 2013

These officers are appointed each year by the Worshipful Master.

SENIOR DEACON                                  MARK E. ESSIG

The Senior Deacon sits to the right of the Worshipful Master and functions as the Worshipful Master’s messenger. His jewel is the dove, emblematic of his role as a messenger. The Senior Deacon is also in charge of the ballot box.

JUNIOR DEACON                   GREGORY M. COLE, P.M.

The Junior Deacon sits to the right of the Senior Warden and functions as the Senior Warden’s messenger. His jewel is the dove, emblematic of his role as a messenger.

SENIOR MASTER OF CEREMONIES      MICHAEL R. ALLEGRETTO

The Senior Master of Ceremonies sits in front of and to the left of the Senior Warden. He is responsible for attending to alarms at the examining room door and for attending to the altar. He is one of the three sword officers.

JUNIOR MASTER OF CEREMONIES              JOSEPH L. PACHECO

The Junior Master of Ceremonies sits in front of and to the right of the Senior Warden. He is responsible for attending to alarms at the preparing room door. He is one of the three sword officers.

PURSUIVANT                              CHARLES R. SHEASLEY

The Pursuivant sits directly in front of the Senior Warden. He is responsible for attending to alarms at the outer door and for “tyling” the lodge. He is one of the three sword officers.

CHAPLAIN                                       BRETT E. MESSIMER

The Chaplain’s place is at the left hand of the Worshipful Master. His business in the lodge is the recitation of appropriate lodge prayers during meetings and other lodge functions.

TYLER                                           VAUGHN L. SCHWALM

The Tyler’s place is outside the outer door of the lodge room. The title is of old English origin and means “the guard at the tavern door”. He takes attendance and is responsible for ensuring that all who come seeking admittance are members in good standing of a lodge recognized by the Grand Lodge of PA.

Each lodge has a minimum of 4 votes in the Grand Lodge. These are the Master, two Wardens, and a representative. Additionally, every Past Master of the lodge is also a Grand Lodge member and is entitles to a vote at Grand Lodge.
