Message From The East
Dear Brethren,
What a great summer it has been! I hope all of the members and their families have had an enjoyable summer, but now its time for us to get back to our Masonic work.
It was great seeing all of the members at the Eastern Star Chicken Bar-B-Q in July as well as the great turnout at the Constitution and Installation of Aurora Assembly #189 Rainbow Girls on August 8; we made a great showing of Waymart Lodge Pride. The girls did terrific, and made our Lodge proud; as I am sure the travelling Brothers from Grand Lodge were surely impressed to see the wonderful work
Your Lodge has accomplished.
I am looking forward to working with my officers and brethren as my year comes to a close, it has been an enjoyable year serving in the East, and one I will always remember.
Let’s not forget, on October 30th, The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania is holding a “One Day Masonic Journey”. If you know of a good man who may be interested in becoming a Freemason, talk to him, present him with a petition and invite him to become a member in the great Fraternity that we share. Petitions are to be turned into the Lodge no later than our stated meeting, September 7, to be able to be balloted on at the October Stated meeting, so do not delay.
Please keep selling your Raffle Tickets, this is an important function for your Lodge, it helps maintain the great community and national work that has made our Lodge what it is, if you need more tickets, Please call Bro Stan Rush at
(570) 488-5436 or (570) 229-1111.
I am looking forward to seeing all of the members and their Families at
the Family Picnic on Sunday, August 29 at 1:00 at Kennedy Grove in Waymart. Lots
of good food, games and family fun for all ages, so
come out and enjoy yourself and re-new old friendships of members you haven’t
seen for a while!
Fraternally,
John W. Edwards, W.M

Dear Brethren;
A Masonic Hall
Association meeting will be held immediately after the Stated Meeting on June 1
for the Board to get all the suggestions from the members regarding
remodeling/renovating the Lodge Building. As you know, there have been
discussions about how to make the building more accessible and useful to meet
current needs. The buildings usage has increased significantly compared to the
past, when it was used 4 times each month, as compared to as many as 10 times
for meetings now, and more with the rental of the social room for community
activities.
Many suggestions
have been made through informal discussions and during board meetings. The board
would like to get everyone’s opinion and views as to what would be the best
option(s). In order to make sure everyone’s voice is heard, would each member
please write his suggestions down and give it to Wendell, Rocky or Clyde at the
June meeting? This will make sure your idea is heard and give the hall
association members more time and a better view of all suggestions presented.
Input is also
being sought from the Eastern Star, as that body paid for all the remodeling in
the room they presently use, as well as much of the social room and kitchen. The
Chapter and Commandery also use the building and have been asked for input.
Your Hall
Association Board has the responsibility, and takes it seriously, to do what is
best for all bodies.
Wendell Hunt
President, Masonic Hall Association

Brethren, Take Notice!!!
Brethren. The
Historical Preservation Committee is pleased to announce that the book we
were preparing for the history of Waymart Lodge #542 is now completed and
available to read. Please attend a meeting and discover what you may not
have known about your Lodge.
Attention: If anyone has any photos of any Past Masters of Waymart Lodge, or
other significant documents of historical value, please contact Brother Bill
Vargas (570) 604-1815 or e-mail at
cherrypro@verizon.net
The
Lodge is Hoping to make a pictorial record to accompany the written
historical record that is completed.
VOLUNTEER NEEDED – COORDINATOR / PHOTOGRAPHER
The Historical Preservation Committee
has begun the project to secure photographs of the Past Masters and possibly
officers of the Waymart Lodge for eventual framing and hanging in the Lodge
Hall. This project is a works in progress and not fully developed with the
coordinator / photographer having much input how to proceed. This was a
committee initiative that did not get started in 2009.
The committee needs a Brother to take
charge of this project and become the coordinator and photographer. This person
would take photos of available Past Masters in Masonic dress, print pictures and
have them framed. This would be done with committee support. To get the project
underway, the first pictures will be taken at the April Stated meeting by a
committee member who will give them to the coordinator / photographer. It will
also be necessary to contact Brothers and family outside the area for whatever
photos may be available.
It is understood this is a significant
undertaking but the committee believes there are skills and interest among the
members necessary to develop this part of Waymart’s Lodge history for
preservation.
Please contact Wendell Hunt at
570-488-5269,
Wendell.hunt@yahoo.com
to volunteer.
Thank You All
