You must be a male, 18 years of age, have a belief in a Supreme
Being, and be of good moral character. You must have a
favorable opinion of Freemasonry, a desire for knowledge, and be
unsolicited by friends.

You must ask to join, hence the commonly seen motto, 2 BE 1 ASK 1. Once you have asked, you will receive a petition, which you must fill out honestly and truly.
